Uganda: Henkel employee Alcom Chelo from Spain also supports the Sonrise Ministries and visited the project in Uganda for the first time in 2016. The smallest ones captured her heart right away.
Silvia Pellegrini (Henkel Netherlands) also supports the Sonrise Children’s village in Uganda. Together with some colleagues and friends, she visited the village for two weeks in December and brought lots of Christmas presents for the kids such as German sausages which caused a bit of confusion with the children...
Mauricio Sandoval from Henkel Colombia with little Paula from the “Hogar Luz y Vida” foundation. This Colombian foundation serves the community as a shelter for abandoned children with a handicap. One third of the more than 200 kids living here has at least one disability and requires special care. Additionally, some of them were victims of physical violence and were abandoned by their families who could not afford to take care of them. The MIT donation is used to buy wheelchairs with ergonomic features to make the kids’ lives a little easier and happier.
Taiwan: Tom Lo and his colleagues from Henkel in Taiwan are planting “Trees of Hope” together with school kids. These attract insects and butterflies in the summer, and the children can photograph them and use 3D printers to create models that they study in class. The funding of the MIT Initiative is used to modernize the classrooms of the school and provide them with new equipment.
Vietnam: A team from Henkel Vietnam supported the building of a bridge for a local community in the An Giang Province – one of the least developed areas in the country. The new steel bridge offers a safe and convenient way to cross the river, reconnecting the local community to essential infrastructure such as schools, markets and hospitals.
